Today was a great day! It was pretty short, because most of the day involved getting trained on a slew of new animals!!!!!
The first one I got trained on today were Emperor Scorpions. Talk about intimidating! But they were actually really easy to pick up. Then we got trained on spiny tailed lizards, plated lizards, and pancake tortoises all in the African holding area. The pancake tortoises were super cute!! They're so little! The lizards were also really neat, just a lot more active than the skinks we had been trained on!
After that, we went to the Green Barn holding area. There were learned the handling procedures for screaming hairy armadillos, rainbow boas and black rat snakes! Those were all super cool - I'm glad we can finally bring our first mammal on encounters! All of these animals are definitely more active than the others we had been trained on, so I can see why they waited to give us them. Now I just need to read up on their natural histories to learn about them! Can't wait for tomorrow!
